Mauro Gervasini is the new film programme coordinator for Trento Film Festival, the international festival of mountain film and culture that has brought the best works focusing on the highest lands on Earth, adventure, exploration and the complex relationship between man and the environment to Trento since 1952. Trento Festival is the oldest film festival in Italy, second only to Venice International Film Festival, and it is precisely in Venice that Gervasini is programme advisor. A journalist and film critic, author of numerous books on the history of film, Gervasini was appointed today by the Management Board of Trento Film Festival.

The board members, recently appointed by the General Meeting of members, also came together today in Trento to elect the Chair and Vice-Chair of the “City of Trento” International Festival of Mountain and Exploration Film, who will remain in office for the 2024-2026 period. They chose to maintain the continuity of both roles, unanimously confirming the appointment of Chairman Mauro Leveghi and outgoing Vice-Chairperson Nicoletta Favaron.

«While remaining strongly tied to its roots, the Festival’s identity is continuously evolving, and we are certain that Gervasini will be perfectly capable of interpreting our constant need for change» stated Mauro Leveghi.

«I am keen to accept the role of film programme coordinator for Trento Film Festival, well aware of its long history and the importance it has acquired on the national and international festival scene» confirmed Mauro Gervasini. «I can combine my experience in the field of programming with a passion for the mountains and a desire to further reinforce the dialogue between film and the other core themes of the Festival, from literature to mountaineering».

The Management Board has also reaffirmed the role of Director Luana Bisesti, who presented the organisational structure for the Festival, already involved in planning the next edition, the 72nd, due to be held from 26 April to 5 May 2024.
