A CAI academic, Renato Gobbato was a formidable mountaineer, active particularly in the 1960s and 1970s, the forefather of so-called lowland mountaineers. Starting from the few pencilled notes in his mountaineering diary and the photographic documentation collected during extensive research, this work aims to throw light on the figure of ‘Bagnin’ – so-called due to his penchant for white headgear - through the voices of those who knew him.
