The Green Film Award went to “Le Chant des Forêts” by Vincent Munier, and the “City of Imola” Award went to “Beyond the Southern Winds” by Gian Luca Gasca.

Two more of the fourteen independent awards offered by associations or organizations partnering with the Festival will be presented today, awarded by independent juries.

The Green Film Award is set up by the Agenzia Provinciale per la Protezione dell’Ambiente and Trentino Film Commission and awarded to the film that most effectively expresses environmental protection and sustainability values and practices, with particular attention for the mountain environment and climate change. At this 74th edition of the Trento Film Festival, the award was given to Le Chant des Forêts by Vincent Munier (France/2025/95′). The jury—composed of Marco Niro, Lavinia Laiti, and Linnea Merzagora—motivated their choice as follows: “A sensory journey made up of vivid sounds and sublime images. Through the bond between father, son and grandson, it tells the story of the forest that lives on in the heart of Europe. Moving beyond anthropocentrism, a message of hope emerges: everything is connected, and the wild endures despite the loss of biodiversity, offering beauty worth fighting for. A powerful poetic warning about impermanence: “We are merely passing through.”” The award will be presented at 12 pm during the Cosa vedo oggi? event in Piazza Duomo.

The “City of Imola” Award was established by C.A.I. Imola branch and Municipality of Imola and is assigned to the fiction or documentary film work that stands out from the others in terms of its artistic and technical quality, emphasis on the underlying values of CAI, and the originality of the issues dealt with and/or the story recounted. This year’s award goes to Oltre i venti del sud by Gian Luca Gasca (Italy, Switzerland/2026/27′). «Majori and Della Bordella’s winter expedition to the most unforgiving pillar of Mount Fitz Roy pays tribute to the legendary Renato Casarotto, forty years after his death, echoing the passion that defined his life. Mirroring its protagonists, the film offers an intimate, clear and authentic account of a mountaineering adventure that transcends time, capturing both the allure and the harshness of extreme mountaineering»: this is the motivation of the jury, chaired by Tamara Lunger and composed of Mauro Bartoli, Carlo Machirelli, Nicoletta Favaron, Giuseppe Savini, and Giacomo Gambi. The award will be presented at the end of the screening, scheduled for 4:30 pm today at Cinema Modena, Auditorium 3, in the presence of the director.

The jury awarded a special mention to Prima dell’Aurora by Chiara Zoja (Italy/2024/14′). Chiara Zoja, born in 2004, is an Italian director and writer. Prima dell’Aurora, which won second prize in the 2024 Film Commission Vallée d’Aoste’s Match and Catch ideas competition, is her first short film.
