The work of cosmonauts is shown in this film exactly as they themselves live through it. The captain of the Soyuz-17 spaceship and the Salyut-4 orbital station, Aleksey Gubarev and the cosmonaut-engineer Georgy Grethcko tell the story of their space flight. Gretchko wrote the film script which chiefly consists of film taken by cosmonauts themselves on board the spaceship and in the orbital station. They give commentary on everything that happens. This is far from being the first Russian film on space flights. It is rather an attempt to follow an entirely new kind of day from a personal point of view with the idea of showing what spacework is like.
