Orava is a historical area on the borders between Slovakia and Poland, on the tributary of the river Orava surrounded by the Tatra and High Beskid mountain ranges. Orava is one of the few Polish region where the customs and traditions have remained solidly rooted in the life of the population. Some of the most interesting traditions occur during the winter and in particular on Christmas Eve.
