In 1978 a Czechoslovakian speleology expedition explored the Anou Boussoil quarry which is the deepest (505 mt) grotto in the African continent. It is situated north of the Atlantide mountain in Algeria, in the Khurdjura chain, at an altitude of 2500 metres.
