Two young musicians go to a village in Vallese to meet the Walpen brothers to learn a new iece of popular music for their repertoire. The meeting in the village square of Infeld turns into a small party. The young and the old come out of their houses and begin to dance on a hurriedy built wooden stage. At intervals old stories and legends are told. Facts and fiction blend together in a night of secret dancing in an alpine hut and then on the glacier where the villagers await the rising of the sun.
