Pamir is a mountainous regino in Central Asia where the average altitude is over 3800m. It divides the Soviet Union and Afghanistan. Soviet Pamir, in the Republic of Tadchichistan, was explored for the first time in 1928 by a Russian expedition led by Gorbunov. The documentary is not only a film recalling the first expedition over fifty years ago, but also shows the work that has been done to make use of the hydroelectricity, the studies of the environment and the alpinistic conquests with particular reference to the peaks Lenin and Communism.
