A group of shepherds leave the Trentino mountains to spend winter in the Venetian lowland, between Piave and Tagliamento. A flock of 1300 sheep move slowly along Valsugana and north Veneto in the search for pasture land while they are waiting for the better weather to return. It is a long and tiring journey accompanied by mishaps, adventures and various difficulties. When the warm weather returns the men and animals find their way back to Trentino after almost six months absence and more than a five hundred km journey.
