Bistrita, a valley in the eastern Carpathians in Romania, gives us an example of how man can induce spectacular changes in the environment without destroying the countryside. Instead, it is a way of adapting nature to man's needs. The film, therefore, provides an opportunity fot debate on the relationship between ecology and civilization.
