This is the story of Antonio and Teresa, a young married couple who see each other only once a week. He works in the mountains, in the summer pastures with the cattle, she at home with her mother. One day the mountain gives way and swallows up the poor house where Antonio lives with his uncle Serafino. The people of the village search for the men and the cattle in vain. After two months, Teresa, who is pregnant, gets over the shock, but one day Antonio reappears like a ghost. Teresa and Antonio do not recognize each other, the tragedy has changed them and he returns to the place of the landslide to search for his uncle whom he believes to be his father. Teresa follows him in the hope of a new life.
