A German-Chinese expedition carries out physical-geographic research in southern Tibet, that is in the Transhimalayan and Tibetan Himalayan areas. It involves geomorphological, glaciological and climatological research and for the first time a scientific expedition with western exploreers reaches the northern side of Everest. Apart from the various stages in the expedition the film also shows the operational techniques in modern research in the field of data acquisition.
