After having lived for about ten years as an emigrant in Paris, Berto returns to his mountains and his village with a fair fortune. He is looked upon with envy and surprise by his fellow villagers, but Berto has his own problems which he tries finally to solve. Ten years before he left a girl, who was working ith some mountain shepherds, pregnant and fled to Paris on the advice of his mother. But he did not forget and returns to look for the woman and his son whom he had turned his back on but now searches for with anger and regret.
