A desertification process is in progress in Africa in the regions south of the Sahara. Man has brought about a rapid deterioration of the environment with obvious consequences for the human beings. Where the desert advances problems of starvation and disease are created. With the rise in the population the need for food increases but the desert eats up the agricultural land and so production decreases.
