Walter Bonatti is one of the greatest climbers in the world of mountaineering. The film relates some of his greatest climbs, from Pilier South-West of Drus to K2 and then to Pilier de Freney climbed with Pierre Mazedeaud in 1961 in a venture that turned out to be a tragedy for alpinism because four out of seven climbers lost their lives including Andrea Oggioni.
