The climbers in this exploit are the alpinists Michel Piola, Stéphane Schaffter, Patrick Delale and Michel Fauquet. Their destination is the West Buttress of the Central Tower of Trango in Karakoram, the base of which they reach on mountain bikes. On 24 June 1987 the four alpinists reach the summit having overcome great difficulties and 27 lengths of rope. The final challenge is launched by Michel Fauquet who dives from the peak with a parachute and lands ten minutes later at the foot of the Great Tower. The film enters the current debate on ethics of modern climbing.
