The Hungarian Count Samuel Teleki with the Austrian navy officer Ludwig von Hobnel, organized an expedition to East Africa in 1886. They reached Zanzibar at the end of the year and then, after a difficult journey they came to Kilimangiaro. Teleki was the first to climb the new snowline.
