In the last few years the Japonese have discovered a real passion for skiing. Every Saturday evening they leave Tokio in hundreds of coaches and arrive at the ski resorts 300km later. They start skiing at once under artificial lightning and do not stop until 5 in the afternoon, when they return to the town, ready to go to work on Monday morning. It is estimated that over 10 million Japanese skiers, throng the 700 ski resorts. Facilities are being built everywhere to cope with this human avalanche.
