The scene is a small town in Salzburg at the beginning of the sixties and the cast is a group of 10 to 12 year old boys.The main charcters are pauli, the son of a teacher and Sepp, the son of a sawmill owner. OnPauli's initiative a gang of ten boys is formed to fight another gang in a nerby village. The action takes place in a church, where the boys serve as altarboys, and in their free time in which they plot, train and pepare for the battle and they even make some rudimental but efficient weapons. A girl also joins them who is more interested in being accepted as a fighting member of the group, rather than for any sentimental reason. The date of the battle is fixed for the afternoon of Easter Sunday.
