The film, commented by Gregory Peck, is one of the most authoritive reports ever filmed on the life of the largest mammals in the world. A scientific expedition on board schooner sails for over 600 miles along the coasts of Vancouver Island, one of the best areas for studying the life of the various species of Cetacea, such as the killer-whales, the grey whales and the whale-calves. The behaviour of these animals, how they communicate with each other and their possibility of survival are the main subjects of study that will then show wether there is still really enough vital space left for the whales.
