From the air it is a green carpet of trees that stretches as far as you can see, but on the ground you dicover that everyone of those trees stands in the water of the hidden lagoon called Cuyabeno. In flood condition you can reach it in four days by canoe, but when the water dries it can take a week, perhaps spent floudering through mud. Such a journey was undertaken to film the life of a strange and primitive bird called the Hoatzin which clearly shows its reptilian ancestry. There are other creatures in the lagoon unknown to science and one understands that everything that lives in Igapo has to solve the problem of being marooned almost every day of its life.
