The attempt to measure time goes back to the origins of mankind. Only recently has it been discovered that ancient mysterious remains, around which have grown up ancient legends and contradictory scientific hypotheses, hold the secret of this aspiration. These natural were the first calendars and clocks.
The documentary is a study of natural systemss measuring time. They are systems based on the observation of the sun and its position in relation to particular points of the landscape. An example of natural time-markers are certainly prehistoric settlements that seem to have been built in relation to the points of sunrise or sunset on certain dates of the year.
Other more unusual cases have to do with a system of measuring time for particular purposes, as for instance in Val Venosta where the sun and shade was used to regulate the distribution of the water to the various fields by observing their position at the established points in the countryside.
