After being a star of climbing and one of the elite in the International Competitions, Catherine Destivelle, has turned to alpinism of a high standard, in solo. In eleven days, Catherine Destivelle, a young woman of 31, with a load of over 80 kilos, bivouacking in space on a platform hung on a nail, opened in solo a new route on the west side of the Drus. The hardest wall in the Alps - 900 vertical metres- now bears her name.
