For the first time a geographic expedition explores, in a very light plane, a region forbidden to foreigners in Western China. Following the river Karakash we discover the Kun- Lun mountains north of Tibet, The Kothen Oasis on the silk route and the large desert of Taklamakan and reach the Muslim community of Turkish origin living isolated in the heart of the Asiatic plateau.
