The land, once covered by huge forest, has been intensely exploited over the years for agricolture which has considerably reduced the forest land. Examples of man's work can bee seen everywhere today, but the forest avifauna has survived in some parts of the wood that has remained intact and given life to a large variety of species from small wrens to large wood grouse. The film, shot in collaboration with the Swiss Ornithological Station of Sempach, explores the relation between the various types of forest and the birds that inhabits them.
