Huge Symonds, a teacher, leaves for a race of 2000 miles to conquer all the 296 mountains in Great Britain. A champion of mountain races, he hopes to complete the course in 100 days despite the scepticism of alpinists. Racing from peak to peak he found treacherous snow-field, force 8 winds and blazing sun established a record of traverses and climbs of 277 Scottish mountains "The Munros" in 66 day and 22 hours. All together he took 82 days and 23 hours to climb these and the mountains of England and Wales. That is like climbing up and down Evererst 17 times.
