The film portrays Reinhold Messner's latest impossible venture: crossing the largest arctic land on earth, Groenland, from south to north and from east to west. Without any outside assistance or intermediary stores, depending entirely on his own strenght and the force of the wind, Reinhold Messner, accompanied by his brother Hubert, left Isortoq on 23rd April 1993. The two brothers pulled their sledges, laden with enough equipment and food to survive for 60 days, for 2,250 kilometres in arctic cold. Walking and sailing, enduring blizzards and tempreratures of minus 40 degrees, they reached Thule - "the farthest land in the north" as the Eskimoes call it - on 27th May, after just 35 days. Reinhold Messner himself explains the significance of the adventure and his current activity and future plans.
