A Russian expedition using sledgedogs leaves for the Pamir mountains in August 1993. The film attempts to probe psychological relationship between man and dog. The story emphasize the training of the expedition members, the preparation of the dogs and finally the difficulties encountered during the ascent of the steep snow covered slopes of Communism Peak.
