Sri Lanka is well known for its natural waterways that have been exploited since ancient times by the inhabitants for transporting their goods such as logs for the timber trade. The trees are felled and then carried to the river with the help of elephants where the workers tie the logs and then guide them downstream skilfully keeping their balance as they walk from one trunk to another.
