The S.A.G.F. (Alpine Rescue of Customs Officers) represents 30 years of excellent service for the Corps. For over two centuries, the Customs Officers , created to guard the Alpine borders, often had to improvise rescues. With this background, the S.A.G.F. was created in 1965 and today has a qualified staff of about 220 military professionals, in 24 stations, who are exclusively engaged in the tasks of mountain prevention and rescue, environmental protection and criminal investigation. The S.A.GF. dog service was also created thirty years ago at the Alpine School of Predazzo and this, today, can count on the precious work of 45 dogs for avalanche and mountain rescue. Since 1965 the S.A.G.F. armed force have dealt with thousand of rescues, saving hundreds of human lives and recovering many dead, working in clos collaboration with other similar authorities such as CNSAS of CAI, AINEVA, etc...
