The documentary was shot during the scientific mountaineering expedition to Pamir Alai in the summer of 1994. The mountaineering part concerns the approach and exploration of the Ar-Su valley with the difficult climb of the unconquered north east wall of Mount Pharus by three mountaineers of the expedition and the easier climb of the east edge.
The scientific part consists of an ethno-geographic study of the local population and medical research to find out the amount of energy used in the march and efforts of the mountaineers at a high altitude.
