Watzmann is the highest mountain in the area known as the Berchtesgaden Alps in southern Bavaria, near the Austrian border. A legend claims that on the summit of seven peaks there is a petrified king with his children. The film follows the first climb along the geologically interesting Wimbachtal to the Berchtesgaden National Park. It’s also touches on the difficult life of the mountain people in this area. The film ends with the traverse of the threatening east wall that rises to a highest of about 2000 metres.
