The Chechen Abdul-Murat who hopes to exchange them with the enemy captures two Russian army soldiers, the lieutenant Sasha and the young Vanja, in a Caucasus mountain village. In a word that aligns love and hate, revenge and dead souls, smiles and tears, feelings finally take an unusual turn. Reason overcomes despair.
