The Kerguelen Island on the 50 souths parallel is 2,500 km from the Antarctica. It is lashed by very strong winds and is absolutely inhospitable for man. In the 1800s, seal hunters, who had boarded a whale ship, were shipwrecked on the island. One expedition from the Réunion Islands come to the island and finds the grotto where they lived.
