There is a real monster very close to us, as solitary being. a kind of living fossil, a case that biology and genetics consider unique. It’s the proteus that only lives in the grottoes and underground streams of the vast karts area stretching from the Trieste inland to Slovenia and Herzegovina. A team of specialists, equipped for long immersions, reach the mythical proteus and manage to make close contact with this little blind creature that doesn’t show any distrust. However, they don’t discover the origin of this living enigma and genetic exception.
