Lengai, situated on the border of Tanzania and Kenya, is the last-born volcano of East Africa. The amount of ash and lava it spews all around may seem disastrous, but it creates the most fertile soil when rain is added to it. These «ash plains» support the greatest concentrations of wild animals in the whole of Africa.
