For 4 years, Scholl and his team of assistants conducted research on the man who came out of the ice. On 28 march the new Bolzano Archaeological Museum was inaugurated, displaying to the public for the first time the especially well preserved glacial mummy. The film sums up the fascinating discoveries made by 60 research teams from all over the world working on the glacial man. The camera gives a view of the scientists’ work and shows how new research methods have been able to obtain detailed information on the possible cause of death, disease and the man’s last meal, but also hitherto unknown information on daily life in the late stone age. The films end with the spectacular transfer of the glacial man to the new bolzano Museum, the final home for what has been described as the archaeological discovery of the century.
