Christine Janin, a French physician, Alpinist and explorer, in 1991 hit the mountain cinematography scene as leading actress in the movie Désire d’Everest by Bernard Germain. She was already known before then as being the first French woman to have climbed an 8000 (Annapura, in 1985). However, she has always dedicated most of her time to the mission of putting a smile back on the faces of children affected by incurable deseases. When she decided to reach the North Pole on a skiing trip lasting weeks, without the help of sled-dogs, she departed from Siberia accompanied by the Russian Serghei. Half-way there, Janin had a helicopter meet her with her protégés on board, and made it possible for them to make such an extraordinary dream come true.
