Joseph Servettaz, a reputed guide operating from the town of Chamonix in the French Alps, is killed at the end of the 1930's during a climbing expedition with a rich industrialist from Milan. The latter is unhurt, although in a state of shok. When Zian Sevettaz sets off to find his father's body destiny again takes a hand an he too is the victim of a fall, in which he fractures his cranium. The industrialist's daughter Bianca would like to express her gratitude to the Servettaz family, but does not know how to begin, and in any case Zian rebuffs her kindness. On her return to Italy Bianca becomes engaged. After a certain amount of time however the two young people meet again in Chamonix. And on this occasion they fall in love, and end up getting married. The mountains, war and bigotry, conspire to separate the couple. But when two people share the same passion for mountain climbing, miracle cannot be ruled.
