The film presents an in-depth analysis of the issues involved in the abandonment of tiny hamlets or farmsteads in the mountains. The work of the peasants and their way of life, handed down over the centuries, is presented with exellent pictures showing the raising of cattle, caring for the pastures and cultivating small plots of land to produce their basic necessities, as well as their religious and folklorist traditions. The old people's attachment to their land is evidenced, as is the abandonment of the houses by the younger generation who are aware that despite their good will this type of difficult and exhausing work does not pay enough to live decently. In short a problem that has not been given due consideration within theEuropean community.
