A brief chronological history of the Tyrolean publicity films in which their peculiarities have been maintained. The original sounds and images in the films have hardly ever been altered. The first silent film "Land Tirol" has been given a sound track as a silent films used to be accompanied by music. The criteria adopted for the selection of the films depended on how representative and professional they were. Starting from the late 20s and early 30s with a number of entertaining and light-hearted films, we continue through the war period when propaganda films replaced promotional ones. We then return to the beginning of the 50s and to the period in which there are no more memories of war horrors. In the 60s and 70s new stylistic elements appear, like the orientation towards internationality. Lastly, the most recent productions are presented which increasingly tend towards universality, aesthetics, but also the culture of consumerism.
