MONASTERIES OF LITTLE TIBET

Russia / 2001 / 15'
Everything – ancient land, old monasteries, dateless customs – have remained inviolated on the mountainous plateau of the northern Himalayas, in the upper reaches of the Indus River. The history is preserved and guarded in the monasteries of numerous Buddhist branches, founded more than five hundred years ago and still working. The images enter this incredible world through ancient manuscripts and strange legends about Christ, or Issa, as the Tibetans call him, who, it seems, visited this land in those far-off days.
