Mixed contemporary climbing, dry tooling, takes rock and ice climbing to its extreme and illogical limit. The film documents Will Gadd and Ben Firth (two extraordinary experts of dry tooling) in the first ascent of the world’s most difficult mixed climb: an icy cave in the Canadian Rockies. The equipment and techniques of mixed climbing are evolving at a rapid rate (leashless tools and one-piece boot/crampon combinations have replaced ice-axes and boots) permitting climbs that were unthinkable in the recent past.
Will Gadd calls mixed climbing "really gymnastic, complicated and incredibly entertaining free aid climbing". Gadd and Firth bring an irreverent refreshing attitude to climbing, while pushing this new sport to limits never reached before.
