In the history of mountaineering only five women have climbed K2. The second highest mountain on earth (8611 m) K2 is the most difficult 8000 metre peak. The film follows the story of these five fearless women who have reached this breathtaking summit: Wanda Rutkiewicz (on 23 June 1986), Liliale Barrare (on 23 June 1986), Julie Tullis (on 4 August 1986), Chantal Mauduit (on 3 August 1992) and Alison Hargreaves (on 13 August 1995). the film then follows the first Spanish mountaineer who tried to reach the summit of K2 on 17 June 2002. her climb was interrupted at over 7,00 metres due to a number of accident that forced her to give up the attempt.
