Franz-Joseph-Land l'arcipelago più a nord dell'Artico fu scoperto nel 1873 dalla spedizione austro-ungarica -Nordpol- capitanata da Julius Payer e Carl Weyprecht. Gli uomini della spedizione rimasero intrappolati nel ghiaccio per un anno con la loro nave "Admiral Tagethoff" e attraversando peripezie inimmaginabili riuscirono a mettersi al sicuro nell'arcipelago Nowaja Semlja. Oggi i turisti viaggiano con i rompighiaccio russi sulle tracce degli scopritori del selvaggio luogo polare assaporando l'imparagonabile magia dell'artico. Franz Herzog collega fantastiche immagini naturali ed una musica straordinaria ad una avventura straordinaria d'insieme.

FRANZ HERZOG
Born in 1949. He is a a director, cameraman, photographer and biologist and professor of Didactis of the Information at the Faculty of Didactis of the Information and Scientific Film Production at the University of Salzburg. He is the manager of the Film Production House Salzburg Science Film, and has produced several educational scientific films. He has travelled a lot and carried out several expeditions to the mountains and different wildlife enviroments all over the world. In 2004 he participated in the 52° edition of the Trento Film Festival with the film “Tanz der Sinne”.
