“A suicide attempt disguised as it were a murder”, Rainer thinks. The young boy, with his father Georg, goes on holidays to the Austrian Alps. The loneliness of the mountain landscape brings to light their old and unresolved conflicts. Rainer takes advantage of an accident on the glacier to let his father believe he had died. The latter remains with the mistaken idea that he is responsible for the tragedy. In the meantime, Rainer manages to get out of the crevasse into which he has fallen and hidden, but will not reveal his safety, thus using his disappearance as a sort of revenge against his father.
