The film portrays seven individuals who have passionately devoted their lives to the environmental cause. They can be considered actual heroes who have stood up to the government, politics and corporate interests in defence of the environment. The documentary shows a virtual tour around the globe, dealing with various stories taking place in different continents. In the Louisiana countryside, U.S.A., a retired teacher fights against a huge petrochemical company in order to save his little village situated on the river banks. Water is like gold in many developing countries and in Ghana, in Africa, a local activist is helping the community to save and keep control of this vital resource. At the same time, but on a different continent, the world’s youngest democracy, Timor Est, is struggling, with the support of another great ecologist, in order to limit the tragic environmental damage caused by years of war. In India, the country with the highest population density, two men are still dealing with an environmental holocaust that occurred twenty years ago, while in the former Soviet Union, some brave citizens are trying to protect the weak ecosystem during a necessary, yet dangerous, industrial development. The film aims to show how ordinary people are able to achieve great things and actually change the world.
