The film presents the Piedmontese project, “Grande Traversata delle Alpi” (GTA). It is an excursion leading from Passo Gries, on the Swiss border, to Ventimiglia, along a network of paths and about 68 resting places where you can find shelter for the night. GTA was born at the end of the seventies after the initiative of a group of hiking fans who wanted to promote a different kind of mountain tourism, inspired by the French experience of the “Grande Traversèe des Alpes”: walking tourism, that enables you to better know the places you cross, favouring the area less appreciated by traditional tourism. In this way you can discover isolated valleys and forgotten villages, where nature is still dominant and where silence and peace make these mountain places real corners of paradise, wonderful and accessible.
