Born in Bayern, Cheyenne attended a school for shepherds and worked in transhumance in the Black Forest and in Switzerland. Since 2001 she has lived in Val di Rabbi where she has pastured her herd “for the care and maintenance of the landscape,” thanks to an agreement with the Town Hall. The construction of stockyards, curing sheep illnesses, transhumance in the valley, lonely grazing and chance meetings with groups of tourists mark the passing of time in Cheyenne’s summer. Nature and freedom: the work and the choices, the views and the silence in the pictures and stories of a young shepherd.
