This documentary depicts the daily life in a traditional Chinese farming society. The director leaves aside social problems, such as poverty, and focuses on the people’s simple and natural way of life. The film has no dialogue and daily life is told through the ever-present eye of the film-camera. The backdrop is China’s natural landscape and the changing seasons that mark farming life. As the film unfurls, it reveals a world of joy and inner peace that only close contact with the land can bring to this people.

Soung LIU

Soung Liu has produced and directed television series and documentaries for more than twenty-two years. After graduating from the London International Film School, he worked in New York for several years on documentaries for the National Geographic Channel and HBO. On his return to Taiwan, he joined Bow Wow Productions so that he could work solely on documentaries. His most recent films include Natural Formosa (2008) and Portraits Taiwan Dharma Master Cheng Yen (2006).
